Hello everyone, my name is Holle and I’m excited to have found this community.
I’m hoping to update my look when I’m not at work in my black uniform. I was analyzed many years ago as an Autumn/Warm Autumn, flowing into Spring. That has worked well all this time, until I decided to go natural with my hair, which is now salt & pepper, with more “salt” in the front and crown. I love the new hair color, and I’ve gotten lots of compliments, but I’m not so sure what clothing colors work now. I would appreciate any insight or tips from anyone else who has made this sort of change to salt & pepper/gray hair.
Thanks a lots and I appreciate any ideas!

Hello Holle, Welcome aboard! I’m sure our community will be happy to help. Polls is the best way to get several opinions. Would you like to create one?

Yes I would like to create a poll to get opinions about my question. Since I’m new to the community and not very computer savvy, I would appreciate any and all help to walk me through the process of creating a poll. Thanks for your help! Holle

@Holle_Gilbert, sure, just create a new topic in Which Color Type/Season am I? category. In the editor toolbar click the :gear: button and choose the “Build Poll” option. See the image below:

It opens a poll editor window, in which you can enter the seasons you want to ask about.

And don’t forget to insert your image!

That’s it :grinning:

Hi,
I’m Yael. I had my colors done sometime in the 90’s and came out as Winter. I had noticed that I am less able to wear the really vibrant cool colors with my now very grey hair and not really wanting that intensity of color, anyway, and I had drifted toward the softer colors. I was curious what a current redo would say to me. Decided to use this online tool, before seeing someone in person. I’m not at all surprised that I now come out as Summer. I tried several photos, and showed each of the sub-divisions, but usually Cool Summer. Soft Summer is nice, but a little too muted for me, and Light Summer is also very nice and works, but many colors are too light. So I will settle on Cool Summer, with the thought that I really like some of the darker Light Summer palate. Oddly, I look fantastic in both khaki and salmon; and while I look hideous in black, charcoal grey is wonderful on me. One comment about the tool, really mor about my pictures. My eyes show up some kind of grey, they are really very blue. I wonder if this skews the results in any significant way.

Hello  I am really interested in how colour works both aesthetically and scientifically, and as I make most of my own clothes I mind about getting it right. I landed up here after wanting to expand my range of colours for clothes and not being at all sure which ones would or wouldn’t work. It has been confusing trying to understand how this works, particularly as I don’t seem to fit into the model very neatly. However, it certainly helps overall.

Aloha!
I live in Hawaii, and always thought I was a Winter, but now I see that all seasons have additional breakdowns for color. So - what is the difference between a COOL WINTER and a CLEAR SPRING? And how can I tie it down better?

Thanks!!

Hi all, my name is Herman - busy upgrading my wardrobe and wanting to make sure that I use the correct colour palette. According to the app, I am a Deep Winter, but on all the photos used, the app assumed that I have dark eyes (which are in fact grey-blue). If I understood it correctly, people with blue eyes can’t be Deep Winter, please advise!

If I understand the theory correctly, it isn’t all that likely that a dark winter would have blue-grey eyes, but it also isn’t literally impossible. This is because “dark” is about the level of contrast, and everyone has a light feature (whites of the eyes), and subseason is a question of which of the three features (dark, cool, or clear, in the case of winter) is strongest in your appearance. So if someone had very dark hair or skin and blue eyes, it might turn out that the contrast was still more significant than the other features. However, the impression I get is that it is more typical for people who have dark hair and light eyes to be clear or cool winter. I can’t get it to get my eye colour right either - it is annoying it doesn’t have a manual correct option - but it isn’t getting it so dramatically wrong as that.

You’re probably a Cool Winter. They are very similar but with a slightly different contrast. I am Deep but I can wear much of the Cool palette. If I can’t get the picker to find the right colour in the eye, I’ll see if I can find it elsewhere on the image. Sometimes around the hair will throw similar colours out. Worth a go?
