What color language this app is using?

Hello,

I see color names in the app like: red bell pepper, golden bronze, toasted wheat etc. Is there a particular color language that you use like pantone, coloro or some other? Some names sound like pantone color names, but when I check the names, none of them are from pantone palette. Would be great if there was created like that, than would be easier to find the right color shades, without misinterpretation.

Hi Kaciorrita,

Great question! The color names you’re seeing in the app, like “Red Bell Pepper,” “Golden Bronze,” and “Toasted Wheat,” are not tied to any specific proprietary color language like Pantone. While some of the names may sound similar to those used in branded palettes, they actually come from several open-source color name lists.

Unfortunately, there are no universal standards for color names in the industry, which can sometimes lead to confusion. The app uses these descriptive names to make colors relatable and easy to understand, but they’re not directly connected to a specific color system.

I totally get how having a standardized naming system (like Pantone) could make it easier to find the exact shade you’re looking for without misinterpretation. Hopefully, it’s something that might be integrated in the future!

Hope this helps clarify things!
