When you're pretty sure but descriptors say impossible

The first time that I investigated my colors was in my 20s…clearly a few years ago. Back then, my skin was slightly darker, my hair was dark auburn and I have hazel eyes that change from gray to green to brown. There was a book for this back then with only 4 seasons and I was clearly Autumn. No question about it and all the colors worked on me.

About 12 years ago, I had colors “professionally” done through the internet. The colors had similar names to now, for ex: winter - deep - autumn - muted - summer, etc. My hair had changed, first losing the red to a mousy brown to mousy brown with white. It hated the color and dyed it a light, almost strawberry blonde. It worked at the time. Skin had lighted. Eyes still Hazel as before. I was told by the professional that I was muted, mostly muted autumn. It was awful. Family and closest friends who would be honest with me told me that I disappeared or looked washed out in all of these colors. And the colors didn’t make me feel good when I wore them. An incredible stylist woman who I knew at the time told me that I should only wear deep colors. When I looked in to those, I looked great. Strangers told me that I looked nice. And the colors made me feel good.

Fast forward to now. The colors that I look best in are still deep. When I go through your process, deep winter and deep autumn are close but in the app process…those cool colors win 5 to 3 with only 1 being clearly better as warm. In the general palette pictures, again, it’s close but cool wins. Yet the description says that this is impossible. My hair was once dark, but auburn and my eyes are hazel.

So which is it? Deep Autumn or Deep Winter?
